The first time since the bullet train opened

There was an acquaintance in Toyama who broke up me a few years ago by disagreement. His name is Mr.Nakagawa. I haven’t talked him after that time. For some reason, Let bygones be bygones each other, or he did not originally care about it. In any case, I may have been unilaterally concerned. I had a chance to drink with him after a long time.

How long does it pass when I’ve been to Toyama last time? I guess less than 5 years. Maybe the first time since the Shinkansen was opened. It took 4 hours to go to Toyama from Tokyo before Shinkansen opened. First we went to Echigo Yuzawa, we had to transit limited express Hakutaka.I think it took 4 hours. 30 year ago, I took a night limited express “Hokuriku” or a night express “Noto” to Toyama from Tokyo. It took 8 hours.

That’s why Shinkansen bullet train is not only a revolution but also an innovation. For that reason it’s a great to arrive at Toyama in two and a half hours. I hope the Hokkaido Shinkansen open to Sapporo ASAP.

By the way, the restaurant was “Shikisai” that my acquaintance made a reservation. The restaurant sits at the entrance of “Sogawa”, a downtown area in Toyama. About 6 people entered the restaurant. We saw a poster, saying “The reservation is full today.” It’s a very popular restaurant. I’m looking forward to eating here.

We were shown to our reserved room. It’s a Japanese-style room with a nice feeling of digging. We toasted with beer to start the party. An waitress brought us assorted Sashimi immediately. Squid, mackerel, cold yellowtail, mussels, white shrimp, tuna, and black throat seaperch. They are locally sourced ingredients except tuna. A man in Toyama said.

“A treat of Toyama Bay.”

The other man of Noto who heard it replied. Noto area is placed neighbor of Toyama.

“It’s annoying that Toyama people calls fishes in our sea as Toyama food.”

The neighbors aren’t really close 🙂 Actually, they are really good friends.

Anyway it’s delicious. Anyway it’s delicious. I’m take care not to drink sake recently due to I cannot drink so much like I was younger. But sake goes well with sashimi. The local sake is more especially.

“This sake is sweet.”

A man says. Does he like dry taste? Is this sake sweet as Junmai sake that I like?

“Oh, this is Junmai Ginjo. It’s a ‘Maboroshi-no-Taki’. The sake brewed in Kurobe City”

What? It’s my favorite drink when I was young. When I lived in Saitama, I used to sell it at a liquor store that has a lot of sake in the neighborhood, which has a sign saying “Japan’s prestigious sake association.” A tasting would be good. I brought my glass to my mouth and drank a glass of sake after poured my glass of chilled liquor. Delicious. Dangerous. I can’t stop drinking.

When I realized that Mr.Nakagawa sat in front of me. We talked about various things. Politics, society, world affairs. Anyway, I was very fun talking with him. I drink highballs to soothe my throat, eat sashimi and drink sake.

An waiter brought us Jewel-like dishes. Kobako Crab, it’s a female snow crab in the Sea of Japan. This crabs were caught at Niigata. Unfortunately I can only write “It’s delicious.” with my writing ability. I couldn’t stop drinking more and more. Dangerous.

The last dish is “Nodoguro”, grilled Blackthroat seaperch. It’s a black-throated fish. This fish has become famous as a favorite of Mr.Nishikori tennis players. The sweetness on the back side and on the ventral side is superb. The surface is beautifully browned. I have a nice crispy texture and body. The saltiness is perfect. The sake went up. Dangerous. I’m already full in many foods.

“Let’s get out now.”

I noticed that it already passed two hours. It’s about half an hour with good sake and good food and good friends. I guess the Toyama Black Ramen is the last meal of today. I was thinking about ramen in spite of my stomach is full. I’m sure I want to eat ramen. Exactly I was too happy to memory tonight. There was no ramen photo in my smartphone. I didn’t eat ramen. It’s a convenient world that smartphone cameras are auxiliary storage devices for my brain.
