Restaurant Harvest on the hill

I am going to Iwamizawa from New Chitose Airport. What do I have for lunch? I thought “Zensho” is also good, but I would like to eat at another restaurant. Should I eat a Akaji-don (a giant shrimp tempura bowl) today? But last night I ate tempura in Hamamatsucho, Tokyo. It wasn’t delicious. Probably I will never go again. The lunch the day before was eel. I ate Japanese food continuously, so I want to eat western meal now. I’m very hungry today because I couldn’t eat breakfast. I searched nice lunch online for a good restaurant around Naganuma because I want to take nice lunch. Finally I found out a restaurant.

Wait for a while

I went to a restaurant without any particular expectations. Before noon, I arrived at the restaurant, but there are many cars in the parking lot. Some people are sitting in front of the restaurant. I opened the entrance to a log house style building and told the staff that I was alone. The staff said you need to wait 40 minutes. I decided to wait. A staff passed me a buzzer numbered 10.

I turned on my computer after returned to my car, and worked. After a while, the buzzer rang. Forty minutes have passed when I looked at the watch. I entered the restaurant again. I was guided to a seat on the second floor with a nice view. It has a very nice and relaxing atmosphere. The view from the window is little green because there are no cherry blossoms yet, but it will be more beautiful from now on. I can feel the particulars of this restaurant, from the interior that conveys the warmth of wood.

If “Zensho” is a rice farm restaurant, this is an apple farm restaurant. The rice uses local Ayahime. Bread flour is also particular about Hokkaido. I’m looking forward to it. I wasn’t sure what to eat, but I ordered 160g of hamburger steak. I could choose 240g of hamburger steak, but I ordered additional cheese and fried egg toppings. Rice can be either white rice or mixed rice. The mixed rice on this day was a mixture of green peas and shrimp. I ordered mixed rice.

The staff brought a plate with hamburger steak, a plate with mixed rice, and soup. It’s fashionable. I don’t think this is the place for middle-aged men to eat alone. But I don’t mind now. I think the taste of a restaurant is more important than the atmosphere. I am hungry.

First I ate a salad. A refreshing dressing with a reduced sourness matches Mizuna green and radish. The hamburger sauce is not a standard domiglas sauce, but a slightly sweet fruit sauce. I felt it was close to teriyaki hamburger steak. The light sauce and hamburger steak go well together. This probably uses apples. The mixed rice is salty and refreshing, and goes well with hamburger steak.

There is only an apple farm, and this restaurant also sells freshly baked apple pies. It’s baked after ordering, so it said on the menu that it would take 40 minutes. I want to try it, but it is impossible for a middle-aged man to eat it alone. It would be great if I visited here to eat with my family. I want to bring not only my wife and my little daughter, but also my two big children.

Memories of Hokkaido

When my big kids were 8 years old, I traveled to Hokkaido together. Abashiri in midwinter. Children returned from Beijing to Japan during the Lunar New Year holidays. I thought a banana boat was a marine sport, but in Hokkaido, a snow bike was towing a marine boat on the ice of Lake Abashiri. Many kamakura (snow igloo) were made on the lakeside. The children liked one of them. They went in and enjoyed looking out of the bar. It was written as “Abashiri Prison.”

“Oh, the air is good, the water is good!”

It is a habit of children when they arrive in Japan. I can’t think of what a six-year-old would say. They grew up, but they still say the same. I think so too. Japan has clean air and clean water.

Abashiri Prison

Locals say there is nothing in Hokkaido. However, some foreigners see this water and air as a treasure. Humans are the ones who want treasures in front of them. Some Japanese think that money is better than land like this. If the supply and demand are established, the transaction is completed. In this way, the land in Hokkaido is being bought by foreigners. Some people say this is not interesting. Some people get angry with this. But I blame the Japanese who bought the land, not the foreigners who bought it. In other words, it’s all that the government has to buy, if it’s such an important land.

After finishing my lunch, I was vaguely thinking about this, looking at the scenery from the window.
